Re-loved is an art project by Helen Eriksen. Anyone can join the project. All you have to do is bid on an object that you desire and could truly enjoy.
The project aims to tell the stories and journey of things, how they change possession and how an object is laden with another’s life, story and meaning.
The objects in this catalogue have been gathered during the last couple of years from various sources such as jumble sales, charity shops, city dumps, Internet auctions and “gis bort” at finn.no where people give away unwanted items. The story with the object is based on conversation that I have during the processes of transaction.
If you decide to take part in the auction and win you will be asked to e-mail or send a photograph of your purchase in its new surroundings. There is a growing collection of photographs in which new owners display the object in their collections or in its daily surroundings. The buyer chooses how she or he wants their new object to be photographed. The project depends on people helping me show that what is being often being discarded here in Norway has a right to be re-loved, not only in Norway but on the international market.
If you are re-selling or even giving one of these objects away as a gift, I would love to know where they end up and have a picture of its final destination. Pass this information on. I hope you can join the project and add a new part to the stories of these objects.
All participants in the projects are anonymous. Based on real lives and true stories.
